Cognição Moral em Pacientes com Ideação Suicida: Uma Investigação com Ressonância Magnética Funciona

Introdução. Ao longo da última década, a pesquisa tem se concentrado no sistema nervoso central e no suicídio, vinculando alterações neurocognitivas e comportamentais com depressão e ideação suicida. A cognição moral, as emoções e a neuroanatomia são áreas chave de estudo. Materiais e métodos. Metodologia mista, com uma amostra de sujeitos com idades entre 19 e 55 anos da República Dominicana (n = 56). Os instrumentos incluíram: a) RMN de 3 Tesla, b) técnica de RMN de difusão, c) paradigma de ativação de RMN, d) estado de repouso de RMN. No nível neuropsicológico, para avaliar a cognição moral, foram aplicados dilemas morais. Resultados. Durante o estado de repouso, foi observada uma correlação entre o funcionamento da amígdala e a ideação suicida. Enquanto o grupo de controle mostrou atividade normal, os pacientes deprimidos, especialmente os suicidas, exibiram hipoatividade significativa. Conclusões. Foi encontrada hipoatividade na amígdala, correlacionada com traços psicopatológicos. Pacientes deprimidos com ideação suicida podem enfrentar dificuldades para ativar mecanismos de autopreservação devido à baixa conectividade e funcionamento da amígdala. Os resultados devem ser considerados com cautela devido ao tamanho da amostra e à metodologia do estudo.
