This paper presents an approach to individual choice based on a theory from philosopher and psychologist Gilbert Simondon. The purpose is to highlight the psychological and psychosocial aspects of Simondon's theory, which has not been explored enough. This author proposes to study individuation from a broader perspective and develops some intrinsic characteristics of psychical and collective individuation. His core thesis is that individuals may participate in the transindividual through their choices. Furthermore, choice is analyzed as a possible way to individuate the self. Therefore, Simondon’s concept of individuation will be explained, followed by some reflections on the nature of psychical and collective individuation and the transindividual dimension, considering some similarities and differences with biological individuation. Finally, the author’s understanding of individual choice and his ethical view of individuation are illustrated, and a connection between choice and invention in Simondon’s theory is suggested.
