THE ONTOLOGICAL/VERITATIVE AFFINITY BETWEEN POETRY AND PHILOSOPHY

Abstract

Poetry and philosophy are different. Nevertheless, throughout history, they have maintained a rough dialogue that has linked them. This historical dialogue is based on the existence of an essential affinity between them. Philosophy and poetry are similar in declaring truth and possessing ontological relevance. Therefore, the affinity that relates them is of an ontological/veritative character. This ontology of truth is grounded on the linguistic nature of both. The language of philosophy and poetry coincides in that, far from conforming to an alien reality, it puts itself what it says. This is how it manifests the truth, presenting the thing.
