ASSESSMENT OF THE PSYCHOMETRIC PROPERTIES OF THE MODIFIED LEYMANN INVENTORY OF PSYCHOLOGICAL TERROR (LIPT 60)

Mobbing, workplace bullying, or workplace mistreatment are longstanding problems for occupational health and organizational behavior literature. The research in both areas shows that workplace bullying affects relevant organizational outcomes such as personnel rotation, individual and group performance, and absenteeism. At an individual level, workplace bullying is related to stress symptoms, psychosomatic problems, and extra-role behaviors. Since labor regulations and laws define what behavior is suitable or not in the workplace, it is useful for organizations to have the proper instrumentation to detect phenomena related to workplace bullying. This article gives an account of the analysis of the reliability and internal validity of the LIPT 60, taking as an axis of analysis to verify if the empirical factorial structure gives an account of the theoretical body that sustains it. It is concluded that despite having good indices of reliability and internal consistency, the dimensionality of the facets of the Leymann model is not adequately represented by the construction and adaptation of the LIPT 60.
