RESYMBOLIZING LOST TIME

PAUL RICOEUR'S NARRATIVE MODEL APPLIED TO CASES OF SEXUAL ABUSE

Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze some patterns of the narrative of sexual abuse against women in the peruvian context using the emplotment configuration model proposed by Paul Ricoeur. In the first part, the temporal model and the fundamental elements for the construction of the emplotment that were used to build the evaluation instrument are explained. In the second part, some elements of the before, immediately-after and after the abuse are exposed with which the damage caused on the person’s self-understanding can be glimpsed. In the third, its proposed what has been called the metaphor of recovering time. In other words, the
invitation to a narrative in which the knots of the plot allow outcomes in which the abuses are re-symbolized in the light of the intentional end of the story. Finally, in the discussion, it proposed some adjustments to the narrative therapy currently used in psychology from the theoretical assumptions exposed and the data collected in the interviews.
