The birth of a child brings about a transformation in the family system, and in cases where the child exhibits neurodivergent characteristics, their immediate environment may lack adequate strategies to address these differences. Parents may experience emotional and psychological repercussions, manifested as stress, anxiety, and other related symptoms. This study aimed to understand the daily experiences of parents with children on the autism spectrum concerning parenting. A qualitative methodology with a phenomenological approach was employed, utilizing semi-structured interviews with nine participants: four mothers (x̄ = 37.3 years) and five fathers (x̄ = 39.1 years). Data analysis was conducted using ATLAS.ti software, which facilitated the systematic organization and coding of information. The findings highlight an ongoing learning process in managing the diagnosis, addressing emotional, social, and educational challenges. Parents described a continuous search for information, the development of coping strategies, and the establishment of social support networks as essential factors in fostering family adaptation and child well-being. These results underscore the need for public policies that enhance access to specialized services, promote early interventions, and strengthen inclusive support networks. However, limitations such as the small sample size and the study's regional focus were identified. Future research could incorporate the perspectives of children with ASD and explore the experiences of families from diverse socioeconomic contexts, thereby contributing to a more comprehensive understanding of these experiences.
