Walter Benjamin’s work has become a privileged space to think about the dangers of modern society. This is so because it offers a sharp and profound analysis of the factors that influence this risk. One of those dangers is the misconception of believing that there are antagonistic relations between progress and fascism, or between illustration and barbarism. Benjamin tries to show how it has been possible while offering as a counterpoint to the historicist work, the materialist historian.
