THE ABODE OF KAFKA

Abstract

From Heidegger’s idea that ethos can be understood as abode, the article reflects on the works of Kafka that describe how live those at the lower level of the social hierarchy. Such descriptions speaking of poverty and overcrowding, pointing in the direction of the suffering degradations inexorably manifest at the abode. Accordingly, the room would be an extension of the character, which would allowed not only to understand the major importance she it has in several works, but also that certain functions that the character should play are only feasible if it is locked or entrenched in a given room. Regarding the latter, the author concludes that the tenacious defense that it is often made of the abode many times has as a goal to protect a mode of being that is inalienable.
