This article proposes a reading of the “The Schematism of the Pure Concepts of Understanding” of the Critique of Pure Reason, from a perspective that seeks to understand both, its specific function and its function in the generality of the work. For this, we will focus especially on Kant’s own argument, in order to establish a reading as close to the text as possible. At the same time, we will introduce some observations derived from specialist’s readings, with the intention of specifying categorical interpretations that cover broader aspects of Kant’s work. Finally, we will briefly expose the consequences that these observations have for the interpretation of temporal functions in Kantian critical philosophy.
